Spider-Man: Homecoming comes out swinging as it has netted the #1 spot at the box office.
The film grossed an estimated $257 million worldwide.
Spider-Man: Homecoming's domestic gross comes in a bit under the estimated $120-125 million mark at $117 million, but the number is still a ways ahead of Sony's own $80 million estimate.
Spider-Man: Homecoming's U.S. gross is also the best for a solo MCU character and the second largest opening ever for a Spider-Man movie.
The number also gives Spider-Man: Homecoming the third best opening of the year.
Plans for more Spider-Man and Tom Holland in the MCU include The Avengers: Infinity War, the untitled Avengers 4 movie, and two more solo Spider-Man films.
