Ryan Reynolds To Star In "Detective Pikachu" Pokemon Movie
Ryan Reynolds will be starring in the upcoming live-action Detective Pikachu Pokemon movie from Legendary.
THR reports the Deadpool actor joins Justice Smith (Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom) and Kathryn Newton (Little Big Lies) on the flick.
Ryan Reynolds will play the titular character, Detective Pikachu, who is a pokemon Pikachu that claims to be a great detective. It's reported the role is motion-capture using Reynolds as the character.
The story is described as: Smith's character's father is kidnapped, forcing the teen to team up with Pikachu in order to find him. Newton is a sassy journalist who helps them on their quest.
Alex Hirsch (Gravity Falls, upcoming animated Spider-Man movie) and Nicole Perlman (Guardians of the Galaxy, Captain Marvel) wrote the latest draft of the Detective Pikachu script.
Rob Letterman (Goosebumps) is directing Detective Pikachu, which is due to start filming mid-January in London, with the release date to-be-announced.
