News: Big Apple Con vs NYCC

It is reported at various outlets across the internet that Gareb Shamus has announced his Big Apple Con(job) will compete with the New York Comic Con, both set to be held next year on the same weeked, October 7th-10th and a few miles apart from one another.

I'm not a big fan of Gareb Shamus and his rag mag Wizard. As I see it, that magazine lost its magic a long time ago.

It has always bothered me the way they portrayed the comic business and its fans as geeks, dorks etc. in my opinion. Maybe, it has something to do with the fact that Quasar ended up on their "dork meter," naah couldn't be.

Gareb Shamus, the same guy that already pulled this rabbit out of his hat before by attempting to compete with Heroes World in 2005. Wizard World Atlanta was scheduled for the same weekend but for some reason or another...hmmmm... they backed off.

Earlier this year, Shamus announced that his Anaheim 2010 show would be held on the same weeked that C2E2 would be held, April 16th-18th.

Add to this all the lay-offs and terminations, coupled with this latest tidbit: that at the recent Big Apple Con, staffers of the NYCC were kicked out by security.

Do I even bother with customers of Wizard not getting their orders fullfilled?
