Matthew Vaughn's Kingsman: The Golden Circle takes the #1 spot at the box office coming in at $39 million, which is pretty much in line with the first film's $36 million domestic gross.
All together, the current worldwide box office gross for Kingsman: The Golden Circle is at over $100 million, so the movie is off to a good start and already surpassed its budget.
What probably matters for the film is whether or not Kingsman: The Golden Circle has any legs; it does have a Rotten Tomatoes score of only 50%, which is down from the first movie's 74%. In addition, the sequel has 75% of the audience stating they liked it to Secret Service's 84%.
The LEGO Ninjango Movie also debuted this past weekend, which couldn't capture any of the previous LEGO Batman or LEGO Movie success for WB, as LEGO Ninjango underperformed at $21 million.
No surprise is coming in at #2--the IT movie. Andres Muschietti's big screen take on the Stephen King classic brought in an estimated $30 million. The IT movie currently has a worldwide box office gross of over $478 million, with a sequel already in the works and plans for a director's cut home video release.
