Guardians of the Galaxy 2 has opened to huge numbers in foreign markets.

THR reports Guardians of the Galaxy 2 has opened in its first three foreign markets on Tuesday with Australia, Italy and New Zealand to the tune of $6.6 million.

It's reported Guardians of the Galaxy 2 is already out pacing the first movie's foreign gross.

In Australia, Guardians of the Galaxy 2 opened to $4.5 million; Italy to $1.4 million, and New Zealand's $700,000 marks the country's biggest opening this year.

Guardians of the Galaxy 2 will open in a total of 37 international territories this weekend, and the bigger markets of China and Russia next week.

Regarding here in the U.S., the movie doesn't open until Friday, May 5th, but Guardians of the Galaxy 2 is said to be on track for upwards of a whopping $150 million opening.

I already have my tickets for Thursday night advance screenings, and I've decided to see it in 3D (I would see it in IMAX, but my local IMAX theaters isn't set up right, as people's heads in the lower rows are in the way of the bottom of the IMAX screen. Very annoying!)

"Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" has a May 5, 2017 release directed by James Gunn starring Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Karen Gillan, Bradley Cooper, Vin Diesel, Michael Rooker and Sean Gunn. New cast members include Pom Klementieff, Elizabeth Debicki, Chris Sullivan and Kurt Russell.

Synopsis:

Set to the all-new sonic backdrop of Awesome Mixtape #2, "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" continues the team's adventures as they unravel the mystery of Peter Quill's true parentage.
