Warner Bros. may be going a similar route with Wonder Woman compared to what Marvel did with Captain America: The First Avenger.
It's being rumored that the upcoming Wonder Woman movie set for a 2017 release will be featured in the past -- in the 1920s.
According to Avatar Press' Bleeding Cool, they have been informed by people who have seen the Wonder Woman movie treatment that the film will spend "the first half on Paradise Island with warring Amazon factions vying for control."
It's said the arrival of a man on the island changes that status quo as he asks the Amazons for help. It's also noted the man may not necessarily be Steve Trevor.
It's then said when Wonder Woman joins the man on his return to the regular world (i.e. world of man), it's in the 1920s, with the Wonder Woman moving showing the character of Diana exploring that world where woman have only just been given the right to vote, etc.
Details for further Wonder Woman movies are also mentioned with a sequel taking place during WWII in the 1930s and 1940s.
Finally, a third movie would take place in the modern day with Wonder Woman in the Justice League.
Gal Gadot is playing the new Wonder Woman and will first appear in Batman Vs. Superman out March 25, 2016.
