Despite denying rumors about being involved in Star Trek 3, William Shatner has now confirmed an earlier rumor that his Captain Kirk is wanted for the movie.
While attending the Wizard World Nashville Comic Con, Shatner let it be known that he has been offered a part by former director J.J. Abrams, who is on board Star Trek 3 as a producer.
Shatner said Abrams called and told him they have an idea for his inclusion in Star Trek 3 and were calling to see if there was any interest on his end.
Shatner said he would be delighted to do Star Trek 3 if they could come up with a good idea because it's fifty years later -- that he know's it's science fiction, but how do you rationalize it? Shatner even said he couldn't come up with an idea how to do it.
He also said the idea is for both himself and Leonard Nimoy to appear in the movie, which is what the earlier rumor suggested.
Shanter also joked that Abrams was "frothing at the mouth" with thought of using Shatner and Nimoy in the movie.
"Star Trek 3" has a 2016 release directed by Roberto Orci.
