Now with the Veronic Mars success, fans have been taking to the net voicing which defunct TV series should get kick started next.
Of course, the popular Joss Whedon Firefly series and Serenity movie is at the top of everyone's list.
However, sorry Firefly fans, it's not going to happen, at least for the next few years.
The Avengers movie director Joss Whedon commented on the Firefly Kickstarter possibility with Buzz Feed mentioning that he basically has no time as he is busy with the Marvel Studios properties. Whedon also seems a little standoffish at the thought -- as what happens if it's no good?
That’s what everybody wants to know about. Uh, yeah. My fourth feeling when I read about [the Veronica Mars Kickstarter campaign] was a kind of dread. Because I realized the only thing that would be on everybody’s mind right now. I’ve said repeatedly that I would love to make another movie with these guys, and that remains the case. It also remains the case that I’m booked up by Marvel for the next three years, and that I haven’t even been able to getDr. Horrible 2 off the ground because of that. So I don’t even entertain the notion of entertaining the notion of doing this, and won’t. Couple years from now, when Nathan [Fillion]‘s no longer [on] Castle and I’m no longer the Tom Hagen of the Marvel Universe and making a giant movie, we might look and see where the market is then. But right now, it’s a complete non-Kickstarter for me.
For me, [Kickstarter] doesn’t just open the floodgates. God knows, things are cheaper now than when we made even Serenity. Good effects can be done in a different manner. Nor is that universe all about spectacle either. But it is a tad more expensive — and a little all-consuming! And of course, there’s the other fear: What if it’s not that good? I can do something that’s not that good — that’s fine. But if I do thatand it’s not that good, I’m going to feel really stupid.”
Well, with Whedon's Firefly out of contention, Cosmic Book News would like to add another show to the list: How about a Kickstarter for a Quantum Leap movie?
Quantum Leap ran from 1989-1993 starring Scott Bakula as Dr. Sam Beckett, a time-traveling physicist putting right what once went wrong. At one time a spin-off movie was set to air on the (then) Sci-Fi Channel that was to feature the daughter of Sam Becket, however it never came to be.
The last we heard about a potential Quantum Leap movie was back in 2010, I believe, with the show creator Donald Bellisario reported to be working on a script.
So what say you fellow Quantum Leap fans? Would we be able to put right a Quantum Leap movie?
