Now here is a character than combines my two greatest loves in comics: Marvel Cosmic and Marvel Mystic, which are actually one and somewhat interchangeable, IMO.
The most powerful wizard on his homeworld of Gevaltu, Urthona found and captured a soul fragment of the human Topaz after its release from Mephisto’s Hell. Learning of Earth, Urthona plotted to slay Dr. Strange to become the Sorcerer Supreme of the entire 616 universe. Granting magical armor and weapons to his warrior champion, Urthona sent him to Earth to destroy Stephen Strange.
While Dr. Strange fought the champion in the streets of New York City, Urthona used the soul fragment to manipulate Topaz into helping him transport Dr. Strange's entire Sanctum Sanctorum -- and all the magical artifacts it contained (Orb of Agamotto, etc.) -- to Gevaltu.
Skewered by the champion's weapon, Dr. Strange sent his astral self to possess Morganna Blessing to continue the battle. When she was injured as well, Strange furiously resorted to black magic and summoned the demon Satannish to consume the champion.
To repossess his stolen artifacts – along with Wong and Topaz, also abducted by Urthona -- Strange took on Rintrah as an apprentice, and took Urthona by surprise by traveling to his planet in a Skrull spacecraft. Strange, inhabiting Rintrah's body, battled Urthona and destroyed all of his mystic talismans to keep Urthona from possessing them. (In actuality, the books and talismans were saved by the magical entity Agamotto, one of the Vishanti. Agamotto later returned the unharmed items to Dr. Strange.)
Strange was not able to destroy the Darkhold, however, so Urthona fled with the book. Eventually, the Darkhold simply disappeared and returned to Earth. It was last seen, to my knowledge, on WundagoreMountain.
Urthona has kept his distance from Earth ever since.
