Vin Diesel Was In Talks For New Marvel Movie Character; Waiting On Reps For Guardians of the Galaxy (Video)
We get a further update on Vin Diesel being involved in the Guardians of the Galaxy movie with the actor letting it be known that the early talks he was involved with was about a different Marvel movie character.
Diesel also wouldn't directly talk about Groot, which is he rumored for, but does talk about Marvel Studios, and that he is just waiting on his reps to seal the deal.
What's interesting about the following video is that Vin Diesel mentions a new character being involved with Marvel Studios Phase 3 plans, as well as voicing one of the "strangest characters."
That bill certainly fits Groot, but also fits Rocket Raccoon, and a certain purple-faced bad guy by the name of Thanos as well.
Here is some of what Vin Diesel had to say (via The Hollywood Reporter):
What can I say about Groot? I can say something about Marvel. I take my hat off to them for being so creative and thinking outside of the box. There was a time there when fans were demanding an answer. What we were initially talking about was a fresh IP (intellectual property). That was the focus of our conversation. It would come out in 2016 or 2017 and potentially launch the third phase.
I guess after they watched Iron Giant, or whatever, they came up with this idea of taking the strangest Marvel character we know - or the strangest Marvel character that's ever hit film - and thought what I could do with that with motion capture and with my voice. So that's what they presented. I thought it was a really great idea on behalf of Marvel. Now it's just up to my Reps to allow that to happen.
The Guardians of the Galaxy movie has an August 1, 2014 release directed by James Gunn and starring Chris Pratt as Peter Quill Star-Lord, Dave Bautista as Drax The Destroyer and Zoe Saldana as Gamora, Benicio Del Toro as The Collector, Michael Rooker as Yondu, Karen Gillan as Nebula, Lee Pace as Ronan, Djimon Hounsu as Korath the Pursuer, with John C. Reilly as Rhomann Dey and Glen Close as Nova Prime.
Also rumored for the movie are Ophelia Lovibond and Enzo Cilenti.
