Earlier, Marvel's Kevin Feige cited John Hughes as an inspiration for the tone of the new Spider-Man, and now it's learned the writers of the Vacation remake will pen the new Spidey film for Sony.

John Francis Daley and Jonathan M. Goldstein, both of whom were actually in talks to direct Spider-Man before Jon Watts got the gig, will be writing the Spider-Man reboot for Marvel and Sony.

The story will see the new Peter Parker set in high school, but is said not to be an origin story.

Marisa Tomei is close to signing on as Aunt May and will appear first in Captain America: Civil War along with Tom Holland, the new Spider-Man.

The Spider-Man reboot is set for a July 28, 2017 with Feige on as producer along with Sony's Amy Pascal.

John Hughes directed the original National Lampoon's Vacation back in 1983; the new Vacation movie opens July 29th.
