We previously put it forth that Marvel Studios may be eyeing a Tom Hiddleston Loki movie as the character and actor is currently the most popular to come out of any of the Marvel movies as well as the fact that additional Loki scenes were added to Thor 2.

There has been a growing online prescence to get a Loki movie for sometime as a petition is underway with about 15,000 online signatures at

There is also the fan-generated #freeloki viral Twitter campaign to bolster a Tom Hiddleston Loki movie as well. (note: not to be confused with the official #freelokisweeps contest).

The petition, created by the user FreeLoki, reads in part:

The character Loki, as portrayed by Tom Hiddleston in the films "Thor," “Thor 2,” and "The Avengers" (2012), has become one of the most recognizable and cherished film characters in recent years. Hence, we respectfully yet strongly request Marvel put into action a full-length feature film production based on the Marvel character Loki portrayed by Tom Hiddleston.

I believe there has been no official mention of a Loki movie from Tom Hiddleston, Joss Whedon or Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige, but as the "Free Loki" petition seems to be generating a lot of interest perhaps it will be touched upon as we head closer to Thor 2 as more promotion and interviews come out from those involved.

Most promising is that Tom Hiddleston recently teased that where Loki ends up depends on the events seen in Thor 2. It seemed previous to that statement that Tom Hiddleston and Loki appearing in The Avengers 2 was a definite no, but now we are no sure sure. Tom Hiddleston did recently state he doesn't think he is going to be in The Avengers 2, but it didn't sound like he ruled it out completely.

Loki's Army is gathering.

Update: Marvel announced a live Twitter chat with Tom Hiddleston for tomorrow promising a big surprise.

"Thor 2: The Dark World" hammers into theaters November 8th, 2013 directed by Alan Taylor (Game of Thrones), starring Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Natalie Portman as Jane Foster, Tom Hiddleston as Loki, Anthony Hopkins as Odin, Idris Elba as Heimidall, Zachary Levi as Fandral and Jaimie Alexander as Sif, Christopher Eccleston as Malekith the Accursed, Akinnuoye-Agbaje as Kurse.
