Thor 2 Tracking For $75 Million Opening
Various Hollywood trade sites are reporting that Thor 2 is tracking for a $75 million opening.
That number is better than the 2011 debut for Thor, which saw $65.7 million.
Bear in mind the number is just an estimate - namely from rival studios - and as we saw with World War Z could be way off.
For a comparison to other movie sequel opening weekends:
X-Men 2 opened to $85 million in 2003
Spider-Man 2 opened to $115 million in 2004
Superman Returns opened to $76 million in 2006
The Dark Knight opened to $158 million in 2008
Incredible Hulk opened to $55 million in 2008
Iron Man 2 opened with $128 million back in 2010
This year's movies:
Iron Man 3 - $174 million
Man of Steel - $117 million
World War Z - $66 million
Pacific Rim - $37 million
The Wolverine - $53 million
