While Alan Taylor takes Thor 2 "The Dark World" from Bourne Wood, England to Iceland, we have a new image of Thor's hammer, Mjolnir, to check out.
The following up-close view of Mjolnir reveals a slightly different handle with the base of the hammer having an added metallic ornamental look.
Thor's hammer, Mjolnir, is forged by dwarves from the fictional Marvel Comics metal known as "uru." Mjolnir, or "The Grinder," carries an inscription on the side, "Whosoever holds this hammer, if he be worthy, shall possess the power of Thor."
The hammer's powers include giving the user the ability to summon lightning and violent storms, opening dimensional portals and alterting the appearance to the guise of a mere mortal.
The first Avenger, Captain America, has even wielded the hammer of Thor.
Thor 2: The Dark World hammers into theaters November 8th, 2013 directed by Alan Taylor (Game of Thrones), starring Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Natalie Portman as Jane Foster, Tom Hiddleston as Loki, Anthony Hopkins as Odin, Idris Elba as Heimidall, Zachary Levi as Fandral and Jaimie Alexander as Sif, Christopher Eccleston as Malekith the Accursed, Akinnuoye-Agbaje as Kurse.
