Based on a short story by Philip K. Dick, Adjustment Team, the movie saw Damon portray congressional candidate David Norris whose life gets turned upside down when he meets a beautiful dancer. A group of enigmatic men, known as The Adjustment Bureau, keep interfering with their romance as they have plans of their own for Norris.
Deadline reports that former Smallville executive producers Darren Swimmer and Todd Slavkin are writing the TV adaptation for SYFY.
While I haven't seen The Adjustment Bureau (any good?) this sounds like a "men in black" or secret society type of cabal where the clandestine group has a predestined path for an individual. From what I gather, The Adjustment Bureau are more or less undercover ops for a higher authority that have some kind of powers (and hence, SYFY) that can erase minds, perhaps alter reality and even time. For some reason or another they want time to go a specific route, and when chaos intervenes (as in the case with Norris meeting the dancer), The Adjustment Bureau is sent to "correct" the error or set it right - regardless of the people's choice that are involved.
Our very own movie reviewer, Lawrence Napoli, had only good things to say in his The Adjustment Bureau movie review with, "This film was a wonderful experience and as true and heartfelt as Hollywood can make them."
