Update #2: Back Online and The Fan Pages have released a statement.
Update: Twitter page is back online.
Superman fans, Lex Luthor must be working late tonight!
Today saw DC Comics/Entertainment launch their all new website, and with that, the Man of Steel has its own hub page.
Listed on that page were links to their Facebook and Twitter pages (see right).
And those pages were thought to be "fan pages," meaning unofficial. Whoever manages the page has even stated as much.
But Cosmic Book News posted an article about an hour or so that these were the official Facebook and Twitter pages for the movie based on the fact that DC themselves linked to them. And to be honest, just how those pages were run I always thought it was a "pro" job.
Now, moments ago, the links on the DC Man of Steel page were taken down -- as well as the "unofficial" Twitter and FB Pages.
However, if those were mere fan pages, why would they be taken down?
And so quick? And at the same time as the DC links?!
And really, why would DC list a Twitter Page and Facebook page that is run by the same person/people (as their Facebook was linked)?
Now what's sad, is that WB decided to pull an entire Superman community because someone messed up designing the new DC site. Their Facebook page had almost 50,000 fans!
Again, if it's a "Fan" page - it's free promotion, and they never said they were official. So why take them down?
Well, the Twitter account is indeed, down, but does state on my iPhone that it is a "private account," and the Facebook now redirects to the Home page.
You ask me, it sounds like DC/WB slipped and yanked the sites for whatever reason. Maybe it wasn't on par with the viral marketing campaign for the Man of Steel.
Sounds like it's time for a drink.
Stay tuned to Cosmic Book News as more on the Man Of Steel develops.
