It's being reported that Warner Bros. is developing a Suicide Squad movie.
It's also said David Ayer is being courted to direct the film.
The news comes from Variety that states sources tell them WB feels Ayer is a perfect choice for the "dark and edgy" film.
David Ayer directed Fast and the Furious, Training Day, Sabotage and the upcoming Fury Brad Pitt film.
According to the report, the Suicide Squad characters will likely have an opportunity to cross over between other DC film properties and vice versa for non-Suicide Squad members appearing in the film.
It's said the Suicide Squad will not be made up of any major villains like Joker or Lex Luthor.
However, as in the comics, there is always potential for characters to be used that are connected to the larger DC heroes and villains such as with Harley Quinn, who was featured in an extended deleted scene in Arrow.
The Suicide Squad recently appeared as part of the second season of CW's Arrow, with the team made up of a batch of villains.
