Mid-November the director of the four Harry Potter movies, David Yates, stated that he was going to helm a new Doctor Who movie, and that it would not be related to the TV series.
Now Who showrunner, Steven Moffat, has taken to twitter to clear things up.
Actually Moffat says the exact opposite.
“To clarify: any Doctor Who movie would be made by the BBC team, star the current TV Doctor and certainly NOT be a Hollywood reboot.”
Moffat continues, stating that Yates may have jumped the gun a bit.
"David Yates, great director, was speaking off the cuff, on a red carpet.”
Moffat even states there there are no plans for a Who movie, and reiterates that it will star television's Doctor Who in an official statement.
“[Doctor Who] is a vitally important BBC brand with a huge international audience [that] not even Hollywood can start from scratch,” he says. “There simply are no developed plans for a Doctor Who movie at the moment. If and when the movie happens it will need to star television's Doctor Who - and there's only ever one of those at a time.”
Hmmm...so Yates was either just really excited (or drunk?) and made that bit about Who up?
Or is something in the works and we will see a new Who, with a new movie, followed by a new TV series or vice versa?
