Yesterday saw a plethora of images from the Star Trek 2 set hit the net with Spock himself, Zachary Quinto, discussing the scene.
The scene depicted Spock versus Benedict Cumberbatch, with Uhura holding the villain at bay with a phaser. Director J.J. Abrams was featured, as well as more members of the cast in additional photos.
Quinto states the studio wasn't thrilled with the photos, but does offer up that it was a great shoot.
“It is awesome. We’ve been working on that sequence for five days,” Quinto told IFC at the Film Independent Spirit Awards. “I was afraid they were going to think it was me who leaked that picture but it wasn’t. The picture leaking did not go over so well. They’re go to great lengths to preserve security.”
And security is so tight that the studio hasn't even revealed the movie's actual title. Quinto does offer up a suggestion when questioned.
“Awesome," he stated. “Totally.”
The as-of-yet unnamed Star Trek sequel has a May 17th, 2013 release date in 3D, is directed by J.J. Abrams and stars Chris Pine as Capt. James T. Kirk, Zachary Quinto as Spock, Karl Urban as Leonard "Bones" McCoy, Zoe Saldana as Nyota Uhura, Simon Pegg as Scotty, Anton Yelchin as Pavel Chekov and John Cho as Hikaru Sulu.
