You know the old saying "never say never," but...
Yesterday, news surfaced that Sony was considering selling off its entertainment division to raise funds for its electronics division.
As we know, Sony owns the movie rights to the Amazing Spider-Man, which would be a part of that division and would obviously be a big cash grab for the reported ailing company.
However, now a Sony exec says that would never happen.
Actually the quote is, "Never ever ever."
AICN reached out to Amy Pascal, co-chair of Sony Pictures Entertainment, who offered the response.
The initial reported stated that the Sony board was debating the recommendations of an investor to sell off film and music properties.
It vould very well be that Spider-Man is not being considered as it is such a cash cow for Sony, having brought in over $750 million with last year's Amazing Spider-Man.
Another possibility that was mentioned was that Sony's film division could become it's own entity.
Suppose we'll find out sooner or later.
