Iron Man 3 director Shane Black is developing a Doc Savage movie and offered a few updates.
He says essentially the character is Superman, as Doc Savage came before the Man of Steel, is named Clark and even has his own Fortress of Solitude.
Black offers they have kept the movie set in the 1930s and it would show how it would affect and scar someone to be raised as a perfect person. The Doc Savage movie would also be true in a way to the original, but introducing a whole new brand of people to this is a challenge as the character has been around for 75 years.
Shane Black goes on to mention who they would want to play Doc Savage stating the actor has to be tall; that Doc is the perfect physical specimen so someone like James McAvoy wouldn't be able to play the part. Black says Arnold Schwarzenegger was talked about to play Doc Savage back in the day, then stating Chris Hemsworth could work.
Black continues with mention that Doc Savage would also need to be a little bit off because that is the fun of Doc's character: that he has been secluded from people and kept from any kind of social niceties for so long that he is a complete savant.
