TVGuide.com let it be known that the CW will be picking up a new zombie series called, "Awakening."

Apparently, this will see two sisters be at each other's throats during a zombie uprising. Whether or not literally or figuratively remains to be seen.

Some are already referring to this as a "sexy" zombie show (somehow those two words just don't go together - or do they?) or "The Walking Dead for young females" (seriously?).

Obviously, the CW is responding to the huge success of Robert Kirkman and Image Comics AMC adaption, "The Walking Dead" - which is awesome both in the comics and tv show. However, that works because it is on cable and more of an adult drama. Will the CW have success with zombies as they do Supernatural?

To add to that, NBC is taking the best of the current popular horror monsters and pitting them against one another in Zombie's Vs. Vampires which is from McG Productions. McG is behind the hit shows Supernatural, Human Target, Chuck, Nikita, The O.C. - and rumored to jump onboard NBC's new Wonder Woman.

Looks like zombies are the new hit "thing" in Hollywood.

The producers on "The Awakening" are William Laurin, Glenn Davis, Howard T. Owens, Carolyn Bernstein and Todd Cohen.

The writers are William Laurin & Glenn Davis, two Canadiens behind The Listener (2009) - which is descibed as "A young paramedic discovers he has telepathic power" and was nominated for a GLAAD Media Award.
