It was DC Comics writer Keith Giffen's choice to put Rocket Raccoon on the Guardians of the Galaxy, and the denizen of planet Halfworld hasn't stopped blasting off ever since.
From there, Rocket would go on to star in Ultimate Marvel Vs. Capcom 3, be featured as a marquee for the New York Comic-Con and appear in episodes of Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes.
Recently, Rocket Raccoon has seen his image appear on the likes of a T-shirt as well as a NYCC mug, which featured art by Marvel chief creative officer Joe Quesada.
So it comes to no surprise when Marvel EIC Axel Alonso, in his latest QnA, mentions that Rocket Raccoon will be getting a major push in the comics as well.
Just the same way as Marvel Studios will make Rocket Raccoon a household name, we’ll make him a buzz character in the Marvel Universe. I’m very excited about the implications of this initiative for the future. The Marvel catalog is filled with characters that deserve a bigger spotlight.
