Legendary artist, actor and singer David Bowie has died at the age of 69 following a battle with cancer.
"David Bowie died peacefully today surrounded by his family after a courageous 18 month battle with cancer. While many of you will share in this loss, we ask that you respect the family’s privacy during their time of grief," a statement read that was posted on the artist's official social media accounts.
Bowie is known for a plethora of popular songs ("Under Pressure" with Queen is a favorite) as well as movie roles including playing the Goblin King in the 1986 Labryinth movie. Bowie's "Moonage Daydream" is also featured on the Guardians of the Galaxy soundtrack, and Bowie has voiced characters in Spongebob Squarepants and Arthur and the Invisibles.
Bowie's songs can also be found in Memento, Inglourious Basterds and Se7en.
