True Detective's Rachel McAdams confirms she is up for the female lead in the Doctor Strange movie.

McAdams, however, tells the LA Times she is unsure if she'll get the part.

She is considering playing the female lead in Marvel's "Doctor Strange," which is set to star Benedict Cumberbatch, though she is careful to note, "it's still super-early days, and I don't know where that's gonna go, if it's gonna go anywhere at all." But she's not a "comic book snob." (Or a reality TV snob, for that matter: She says she's been watching this season of "The Bachelorette.")

It's unknown what role McAdams may be up for, but a possibility is Clea, Doctor Strange's lover and disciple.

Doctor Strange begins filming in the Fall so casting announcements should be coming soon enough; probably at next month's Disney D23 Expo.

"Doctor Strange" has a November 4, 2016 release directed by Scott Derrickson starring Benedict Cumberbatch as Stephen Strange and Tilda Swinton as the Ancient One.
