Who better to direct a kick ass Wonder Woman movie than a former World Karate and Kickboxing Champion?
Well, that is not going to happen as the director of the 2008 Punisher: War Zone movie, Lexi Alexander, says no way.
Speaking with Fast Company, Alexander offers the following when asked about potentially directing Wonder Woman.
“Imagine the weight on my shoulders. How many male superhero movies fail? So now, we finally get Wonder Woman with a female director; imagine if it fails. And you have no control over marketing, over budget. So without any control, you carry the f—ing weight of gender equality for both characters and women directors. No way.”
It probably should be noted that Lexi Alexander hasn't been offered the gig to direct Wonder Woman (latest report has it that Michelle MacLaren is the frontrunner), and Alexander continues on at Forbes:
“I can’t say they wouldn’t consider me, but they haven’t reached out.”
“If she says yes, everybody will be very happy, including me. Still, I don’t see at this point why anyone would say yes. There is huge pressure … If [a female director] does fail, then all of a sudden it’s ‘all women suck at directing.’”
The Gal Gadot Wonder Woman movie has a 2017 release date.
