With AMC losing both Breaking Bad and soon to be Mad Men, it's reported that the Garth Ennis Vertigo comic book, Preacher, is getting adapted for TV with a pilot said to be ordered.
According to Bad Ass Digest, a pilot has already been ordered by AMC with big names said to be attached, but no more details are known.
This isn't the first time an attempt has been made at adapting Preacher as back in 1998 a movie was all set, but funding was reportedly hard to come by with studio executives confused by the concept. Now that we see comic book films and TV series are all the rage, perhaps AMC is thinking they could have another The Walking Dead on their hands with Preacher.
HBO recently passed on Preacher back in 2006 citing it was too controversial with its religious themes.
Preacher centers on Jesse Custer, a preacher in a small town who gets possessed by the offspring of an angel and demon that may rival God.
