We got the die-cut covers, the wrap-around covers, and now DC Comics isn't done yet with the 90s flashbacks as the embossed cover is making a comeback.
Batman #21 will featured an embossed cover.
The issue marks the beginning of Batman: Year Zero.
And in case you are not familiar with the embossed covers, they feature raised image/text.
A classic example and my favorite embossed cover of all time is Silver Surfer #50.
Way back when, Silver Surfer #50 used to be a pretty hot comic. This was back in my younger years, and because it was actually worth something, my LCS had it up on their wall with the other high-priced comics.
Well, they had the shelf over-stuffed and when I went to grab it -- it fell! The owners of the shop looked at me like I had dropped the Mona Lisa!
I think it was priced around 7 bucks, which back then was a lot of lunch money to be saved.
Eventually, I did buy the issue.
