[[wysiwyg_imageupload:2113:]]While September sees two Thanos reprint stories from Marvel Comics, this October sees Joe Keatinge and Richard Elson tackle the Mad Titan with the five issue mini-series, Thanos: Son Of Titan.
The series actually takes place prior to the official start of the Marvel U., Fantastic Four #1, according to USA Today, with Keatinge adding, "It is about how Thanos came to be. I don't go Forrest Gump on it, but aspects of the Marvel Universe have been born that directly turn Thanos into who he is."
The series sees a young Thanos prior to his love affair with Mistress Death, with Marvel Editor Stephen Wacker hinting that the series will explore what motivates Thanos of Titan.
"He ends up at the point where he's worshiping Death and destroying universes," said Wacker. "How do you get to that head space where you're like, 'This is what I want to do with the rest of my life?' "
Keatinge comes over from Image Comics where he had recently published his hit series Glory and Hell Yeah. The writer commented on his Tumblr how excited he is to pen the Marvel Cosmic big baddie.
Its been surreal. I was of the perfect age when THANOS QUEST/INFINITY GAUNTLET hit and I became enamored with the character instantly. In fact, in a really bit of odd kismet I had just dug into the original WARLOCK run by Starlin when Avengers came out and, well, that stinger’s not a spoiler anymore, right?
Anyway, point being, when they asked me to write it, I was in the absolute perfect obsessed-with-Thanos headspace. I’m beyond stoked.
This is definitely a passion project in every single possible way. Huge thanks to the folks over at Marvel for making this happen!
