Electronic arts revealed three new images featuring the Millennium Falcon and the Slave 1 ship for the Star Wars: Battlefront video game.
“I think everyone that’s ever seen Star Wars has had the dream of entering a fight with the legendary, slick starships of Han Solo or Boba Fett,” Senior Designer Björn Sundell said at EA.com.
It's noted: "...you acquire these ships through pickups on the Fighter Squadron maps. Once you’re behind the sticks, you've only got one spawn at your disposal before you’re back in a regular Rebel or Imperial starship - but the extra speed and firepower of Slave I and the Millennium Falcon will make you extra deadly. Boba Fett’s ship Slave I is even more of an arsenal-heavy craft. It’s equipped with Ion Cannons, Proton Torpedoes, and a jammer that can be activated to fly undetected on the mini-map and to avoid missile locks."
“Don’t be surprised if you suddenly spot multiple foes at your tail when piloting these ships,” Sundell said. “During playtests we've noticed how excited players get to be the one taking down the Millennium Falcon or Slave I. You should always keep both offence and defense in mind.
“One crucial thing to nail when designing the Hero Vehicles is to make players feel truly cool, powerful, and heroic when piloting them. This goes for both the visuals and feel. Playing Star Wars Battlefront, you should get the same feeling that you get when you see the Millennium Falcon swooping by and taking out TIE fighters in the movies. Hearing a line from Han Solo or seeing the missile hatches of Slave I open will hopefully set the mood for a thrilling highlight of the match,” Sundell sad.
Star Wars Battlefront will allow fans to live out a wide range of heroic moments and intense battle fantasies of their own – firing blasters, riding speeder bikes and snow speeders, commanding AT-ATs and piloting TIE fighters and the Millennium Falcon. These battles will take place on some of the most iconic planets in the Star Wars universe, including Endor, Hoth, Tatooine and the previously unexplored planet,Sullust. Gamers will be able to play as some of the most memorable characters in the original trilogy such as Darth Vader and Boba Fett. Star Wars Battlefront will feature a wide range of modes tailored for different types of battles, from larger 40-person competitive multiplayer to crafted missions that are played solo, with a friend via split-screen offline or co-operatively online.
Fans who pre-order Star Wars Battlefront will be among the first players to experience the Battle of Jakku, the pivotal moment when the New Republic confronted key Imperial holdouts on a remote desert planet on the Outer Rim. Taking place in the aftermath of the Rebel victory in the Battle of Endor, players will experience the events that created the massive, battle-scarred landscape of Jakku shown in Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Players who pre-order Star Wars Battlefront can fight the battle one-week early starting on December 1, 2015. All other players will get access to this free content on December 8, 2015.
