picSony Pictures held a press conference earlier today for the next James Bond movie, which is being called Skyfall.

Update: 17 videos of footage from the press conference have been released.

Skyfall will actually start filming today and sees Daniel Craig return as Agent 007. In addition, Bérénice Marlohe will play Severin, a bond girl. Javier Bardem (No Country For Old Men) and Ralph Fiennes (Voldemort in Harry Potter) will play villains, but details are being kept secret. Naomie Harris plays Eve, described as a field agent, and not Miss Moneypenny as some assumed. Judi Dench returns as M, and Ben Whishaw and Albert Finney are all said to have roles as well.

Sam Mendes is on to direct with Barbara Brocolli and Michael Wilson on as producers.

Here are a few tidbits via Bleeding Cool:

Skyfall is not based upon any prior Bond book or property of any kind.

The plot of Skyfall is not connected to the last two films and Quantum are not involved.

Via Sony's official site: "In Skyfall, Bond’s loyalty to M is tested as her past comes back to haunt her. As MI6 comes under attack, 007 must track down and destroy the threat, no matter how personal the cost."

The above pic is from the official Sony site, as well.

Skyfall has an October 26th, 2012 release date.
