Mr. Fixit Gray Hulk Returns To Hulk Smash: Avengers
[[wysiwyg_imageupload:1575:]]Those Mr. Fixit Gray Hulk issues from Peter David and co. bring back lots of good memories, now there is some quality reading.
Actually, I first started reading comics when my brother brought home an issue of Incredible Hulk — and he was gray!
From then on I was hooked and proceeded to get all of David's run; Mr. Fixit is right up there along side the Prof. Hulk (Keown) as my favorite incredible version.
Last we saw of the Gray Hulk was when Jeph Loeb dropped an Easter Egg in an issue of Hulk with Ed McGuinness.
Now, Jim McCann and Agustin Padilla are "bringing back" Joe Fixit in Hulk Smash Avengers #4.
While the Gray Hulk won't be returning to the present day Marvel. U., what McCann and Padilla are offering is a flashback or long lost story featuring Ol' Gray Skin.
And he is set to take on the West Coast Avengers!
"This takes place between issues #4 and #5 [of West Coast Avengers], so it’s still the originals, who are the best line-up for me: Hawkeye, Mockingbird, Wonder Man, Tigra and Iron Man—Tony Stark, just after taking back the mantle." McCann told Marvel.com. "It shows what I love best about that team: they are dysfunctional, but when the Fix hits the fan, they know how to pull it together!
"Unlike the other stories, though, this one comes as a bit of surprise for the Avengers, as this new mob-tied version of ol' Jade Jaws—or Gray Jaws, more accurately—had been an unknown entity. This is during a time when the world thought Hulk was dead, so the Whackos have no clue they’re about to face the Hulk. They hear word of a mob boss’s enforcer running the show and go to check it out. Plus, Hawkeye really wants to play blackjack.”
McCann goes on to note how this is the "single most exciting and fun issue" that he has wrote at Marvel and if presented the opportunity would write Fixit Hulk for years.
"After this, I would write a Fixit book for years if possible. Hulk plus suit plus Vegas plus Tommy guns?! Make Mine Fixit!"
And check out some gorgeous pages below from Agustin Padilla.
Hulk Smash Avengers #4 hits in May.
