Marvel Announces 'Avengers 1959' from Howard Chaykin
Spinning out of the pages of New Avengers, Marvel and CBR announce Avengers 1959, a five issue mini, written and drawn by Howard Chaykin.
Chaykin previously did an "Avengers 1959" story in the pages of NA with "Infinity" that featured Nick Fury, Sabretooth, Kraven The Hunter and Namora.
The new Avengers 1959 will see Chaykin further explore the relationships between these characters and takes place a few weeks after "Infinity." In addition, Blonde Phantom joins the "1959" assemblers.
"They're not after the Red Skull this time. Basically they're up against that nascent network of post-World War II fascist villains that's slowly coming together," Chaykin told CBR. "There's also a third party, which I will not go into, that is instrumental in stirring up a storm between our heroes and those villains. That sort of complicates things radically."
In addition to the main cast, Chaykin teases other Marvel characters will be appearing.
"We'll see other characters from that period show up in cameos and guest spots, which I will not talk about," said Chaykin. "But expect some fun and recognizable faces."
Head on over to CBR for more from Howard Chaykin; Avengers 1959 hits this October!
