This weekend begins some of the big international premiers for the Man of Steel, and the movie takes the top spot for its opening day in China.
It's reported that Man of Steel grossed $5.85 million in China for its first-day debut, taking in a whopping 80% of the country's total box office for the day.
Warner Bros. brought director Zack Snyder and new Superman Henry Cavill to Shanghai to give the film some publicity.
Current numbers peg the Man of Steel as grossing over $240 million worldwide so far, with over $168 million domestically.
It's hoped that the movie will do well enough to warrant subsequent Man of Steel sequels, a Justice League movie, and related character spinoff films.
