In an update on a recent article, it's being said that as a result of Sony getting hacked, information has leaked revealing the studio wanted to bring back Sam Raimi on the franchise as a director or producer.
The new information comes from SlashFilm, where in their own report about the leak, it's stated the Wall Street Journal mentioned that Sam Raimi was wanted by Sony for Spider-Man; however, the most recent version of the WSJ article makes no mention of Raimi.
It's likely the original WSJ article has been edited to remove reference to Raimi, but whether it was due to writer error or other factors is presently unknown. The WSJ article does make note: "This article has been updated from its original version."
Other information previously cited was news of Sony and Marvel in talks for Marvel to take over the franchise, and for Spider-Man to be featured in Captain America 3.
According to the report, the talks between Marvel and Sony fell apart.
Sam Raimi directed the three Spider-Man movies in 2002, 2004 and 2007.
