Today at Comic-Con, the cast of the Guardians of the Galaxy movie made a surprise visit which included mention that Djimon Hounsu's character, Korath The Pursuer, is an ally of Thanos.
Now after the panel, IGN caught up with Marvel Studios president and producer Kevin Feige and asked about Thanos.
"I think somebody on the panel today - on the Guardians of the Galaxy surprise panel - let loose that Thanos is a part of the movie. He is. Thanos plays a part in Guardians of the Galaxy as a mastermind. He very much exists at nearly another plane than any of the other characters and we have big plans for him over the course of a long long time."
Feige than goes on to confirm that Thanos will be involved in more Marvel Studios movies. In that same September article Cosmic Book News also said Thanos would be in The Avengers 2, now known as Avengers: Age of Ultron.
"Well, absolutely," Feige replied when being asked about Thanos in multiple movies. "We saw him smirking at us at the end of the first Avengers. Next time we see him will be in Guardians."
The Guardians of the Galaxy movie has an August 1, 2014 release directed by James Gunn and starring Chris Pratt as Peter Quill Star-Lord, Dave Bautista as Drax The Destroyer and Zoe Saldana as Gamora, Benicio Del Toro as The Collector, Michael Rooker as Yondu, Karen Gillan as Nebula, Lee Pace as Ronan, Djimon Hounsu as Korath the Pursuer, with John O.Reilly.
Also rumored for the movie are Ophelia Lovibond, Enzo Cilenti, and Glenn Close.
