Hollywood looks to continue with the cosmic gold from Jim Starlin as it's learned a movie adaptation for his Dreadstar comic book is in the works.
Marvel Studios has already adapted some of Starlin's Marvel comics work with Thanos, the Infinity Gems, as well as using Gamora and Drax in the Guardians of the Galaxy movie out this Summer.
Now THR reports that Benderspink and Illuminati Entertainment are teaming up to bring Dreadstar to the big screen, which was published in 1982 from Epic Comics, an imprint of Marvel.
It's mentioned that a studio is currently being sought for the project as well as a writer.
"Apart from Star Wars, this was my favorite science fiction story growing up," said J.C. Spink, of Benderspink.
“Dreadstar is one of the most important comics on the 1980s, paving the way for creators to control their own creations,” Illuminati Entertainment's Ford Lytle Gilmore added. “After decades of Jim exercising that control and turning away countless Hollywood suitors, I'm excited he's trusting me and J.C. to do it right."
Starlin's Dreadstar centers around the last survivor of the Milk Way, Vanth Dreadstar, who forms a motley cast of crewmates that get caught between two powerful evil empires, the Monarch and the Church of The Instrumentality.
