THR reported the news which at first included mention that Ophelia Lovibond's character will play "an aide to a near-immortal being called The Collector, who gathers artifacts and beings in the hopes of saving them from a foretold galactic annihilation."
However, the article has since been updated removing the description.
Either it slipped out that The Collector was involved, or the facts somehow got mixed up.
The Collector is a CBN Managing Editor Byron Brewer favorite that first appeared in Avengers Vol. 1, No. 28. He's actually mostly thought of as a villain, but that isn't always the case, and as we see here, The Collector appears to be playing more the "good" guy. One of The Collector's powers happens to be prophecy, and in the comics, he foretold the rise of a certain The Avengers movie bad guy -- Thanos.
So what did The Collector do? Well, it's practically verbatim with the above movie description: He created a massive museum of countless life forms to keep them safe from the Mad Titan. And The Collector even controlled one of the Infinity Gems - Reality - but misunderstood its power and traded it to Thanos for his fellow Elder, The Runner.
Update: It's quite possible that Lovibond could be playing The Collector's daughter, Lovibond, who married Michael Korvac.
The Collector's foresaw a second major threat with Korvac, a near omnipotent human from an alternate Earth future.
The actress said to play aide to The Collector, Ophelia Lovibond, is an English actress known for The Poison Tree and Titanic: Blood and Steel. She also had a role in Mr. Popper's Penguins, which also starred Jim Carry, whom is rumored to be in talks for voicing Rocket Raccoon as well.
