Iron Man 3 (2013): 1000 Extras Will Be Used For North Carolina Shooting

picThis one slipped under my radar from the last week of October, but definitely worth a menion.

Production for Iron Man 3 will head to the Port City of Wilmington, North Carolina beginning in May 2012, and Gov. Beverly Perdue has officially announced that the movie will create 550 production jobs as well as the need for 1000 extras.

"This is a red-letter day for North Carolina, and I mean it in all kinds of ways," Perdue said as reported by the Star News. "America knows that North Carolina is serious about film, and Marvel Studios understands this is the best place in the country to do film business." 

In addition to creating over 1500 jobs, Iron Man 3 will bring in $80 million to the local economy.

The Avengers assembles May 4th, 2012 and is directed by Joss Whedon, starring Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Chris Evans as Captain America, Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury, Mark Ruffalo as the Hulk, Scarlett Johansson as the Black Widow and Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye.
