Hugh Jackman: Real Steel is 'Bad Ass,' on X-Men, The Wolverine and more
Access Hollywood caught up with Hugh Jackman and director Shawn Levy at the recent CinemaCon - and both said that their upcoming futuristic robot fighter, Real Steel, will have a whole lot of "bad-assery."
"It is a get out of your seat rousing sports action drama. It is set in the not too distant future and I think apart from the action there is a lot of emotion to it. It is a really beautiful father/son story and it is pretty bad ass, too." stated Jackman. "The action is awesome."
Levy added, "You can't make a robot boxing movie without a high bad-ass quotient. So the 'baddassery' is very high."
Regarding The Wolverine, Jackman stated he got a "bug" and lost some weight, but that he is kinda sticking to his diet.
"I'm staying in the ballpark," said Jackman. "I'm not sure if I can eat 29 chicken breasts right now without a director attached."
When told that Thor star, Chris Hemsworth, was asked about the "Hugh Jackman Diet," and that Hemsworth knew exactly what it was, Jackman replied that it is all Dwayne Johnson's, as he called up Johnson after he saw how Johnson bulked up in "Faster."
When asked about X-Men: First Class, Jackman said he is a fan just like us and that the trailer looks great, that "it's a great cast" and he "hear[s] really good things."
Jackman and Levy also commented on Sugar Ray Leonard, who is presently a contender in "Dancing With the Stars" and offered up some advice. Leonard trained Jackman in Real Steel and provided the robots their fighting styles.
Real Steel hits October 7th, 2011.
