James Gunn let it be known that the Guardians of the Galaxy trailer will be coming soon and also talked about Benicio del Toro as The Collector, Bradley Cooper as Rocket Raccoon and Vin Diesel potentially as Groot.
MTV caught up with Gunn at the Thor 2 world premiere where the director was asked about when new footage or a Guardians of the Galaxy trailer would be released with Gunn responding, "We don't have that long to wait."
Gunn also stated Bradley Cooper is the best and amazing as well as how dedicated he is to voicing Rocket Raccoon.
I'm a very controlling guy. [Rocket Raccoon] is a big one for me, and I have very specific ideas about what Rocket Raccoon is like. [Cooper] lets me push him any which way to get where I want to go. He does not give up. He sits there in the studio all day long until his voice is sore and his eyes are bloodshot, and he's bleeding from his nose and ears. But he's turned in some good raccoon voices, so who cares?
Regarding Vin Diesel, James Gunn wouldn't confirm the actor is playing Groot, but said he just talked to Diesel on the phone yesterday.
Honestly, I talked to Vin on the phone yesterday. It's looking pretty good; we'll see.
Spoilers follow for Thor 2.
Gunn also spoke about the Thor 2 mid-credit scene (watch it here!) which features Benicio del Toro as The Collector.
I got the script that morning, and I did it in two hours at the end of a day of second unit shooting. That's how this little bit came together with Benicio.
[Del Toro] is out there, man. He's the best. We just kept watching him on set, being like, 'Oh my God.' He was probably the character who was most different from what I imagined. Although, I did say he's like an outer-space Liberace. That's what it says in the script, which he's kind of doing. He really came in prepared and doing something utterly unique, and he's mesmerizing the whole time he's in the movie.
The "Guardians of the Galaxy movie" has an August 1, 2014 release directed by James Gunn and starring Chris Pratt as Peter Quill Star-Lord, Dave Bautista as Drax The Destroyer and Zoe Saldana as Gamora, Benicio Del Toro as The Collector, Michael Rooker as Yondu, Karen Gillan as Nebula, Lee Pace as Ronan, Djimon Hounsu as Korath the Pursuer, with John C. Reilly as Rhomann Dey, Glen Close as Nova Prime, and Bradley Cooper as the voice of Rocket Raccoon.
