Previously we heard from The Avengers director Joss Whedon that the Guardians of the Galaxy movie was going to be a bit twisted.
Now, Marvel Studios president and producer Kevin Feige offers a similar insight.
Discussing the success of The Avengers movie, Kevin Feige tells MovieFone how his approach to future Marvel movies has changed, if at all. Feige offers that instead of taking the easy road, when things get complicated or riskier, they choose to go along the more difficult path — because that's a better pay off when it succeeds, and also what the audience is not expecting, which is the reason why he is looking forward to the Guardians of the Galaxy movie so much.
"[Guardians of the Galaxy] is one of the ones that I’m most excited about because it’s so outside the box and so weird and so different. People like grand experiments and things that haven’t been done before, the unexpected," said Feige.
Unlike the previous Marvel Studios movies which featured superheroes at least known to the general public, the Guardians of the Galaxy movie features the likes of Star-Lord, Gamora, Drax The Destroyer, Groot and Rocket Raccoon — popular characters amongst the Marvel Cosmic crowd, but not so much compared to their Avengers counterparts. However, the movie will feature Thanos, who was featured in The Avengers movie, and as Kevin Feige noted previously did create a lot of buzz.
In addition, could we see an Assembler or two?
The Avengers 2 assembles May 1, 2015 with Iron Man 3 on May 3, 2013, Thor: The Dark World on November 8, 2013, Captain America: Winter Soldier on April 4, 2014, and the Guardians of the Galaxy movie on August 1, 2014.
