Fox Cancels Fantastic Four 3D Conversion
It's learned that Fox has cancelled plans to convert Fantastic Four to 3D.
Following early promotions that listed RealD 3D on the footage, it's now been confirmed by Josh Trank that Fantastic Four will only be in 2D.
I want the viewing experience of Fantastic Four to remain as pure as possible for the audience, which means in 2D, just as we shot the movie.”
As the UK's Final Reel notes, there was actually an earlier rumor that Fox scrapped plans to convert Fantastic Four into 3D because of budget restraints that saw the money used for reshoots, with it also rumored that Simon Kinberg filmed the re-shoots due to problems with Trank while filming FF.
"Fantastic Four" has an August 7, 2015 release directed by Josh Trank from a screenplay by Jeremy Slater, Simon Kinberg and Josh Trank; produced by Matthew Vaughn, Simon Kinberg, Hutch Parker, Robert Kulzar and Gregory Goodman; starring: Miles Teller, Michael B. Jordan, Kate Mara, Jamie Bell and Toby Kebbell.
FANTASTIC FOUR, a contemporary re-imagining of Marvel’s original and longest-running superhero team, centers on four young outsiders who teleport to an alternate and dangerous universe, which alters their physical form in shocking ways. Their lives irrevocably upended, the team must learn to harness their daunting new abilities and work together to save Earth from a former friend turned enemy.
