With The Flash set to debut in episode 8 of Arrow, the CW has let it be known that filming will begin at the end of September with a casting announcement coming soon.
Barry Allen, aka The Flash, is set to premiere in three episodes of Arrow before going off to his own TV series.
Arrow executive producer Andrew Kreisberg told EW: "We’ll have to have somebody by Sept. 30, which is when we start shooting [his first] episode. So there is that timeline. But it’s been a really exciting process just getting to meet so many fantastic actors and seeing the enthusiasm that so many people around town have for the character. It’s just amazing — I have pictures of myself at age 4 holding a Flash and a Superman doll. That I’m sitting here writing the Flash and Green Arrow now, it’s more than my little nerd heart can bear sometimes.”
No actors have been rumored for the role as of yet.
It was recently learned that Christopher Nolan approved the use of The Flash for the Arrow TV series, leading to speculation WB may be going with a shared movie/TV universe. It's also become known that The Flash will have the use of his powers.
We think based on last season's schedule that episode 8 of Arrow featuring the first appearance of The Flash will air December 4th.
Arrow Season 2 will also feature a member of The League Of Assassins as the main villain and premiers Wednesday, October 9th at 8pm ET.
