First Comic Book Store Just For Kids Opens in Toronto: Little Island Comics

pic The owners of Beguiling Comics in Toronto have opened up another comic store aimed at children.

Little Island Comics had its unofficial opening in September, with their grand opening coming up this weekend on Saturday, October 1st and Sunday, October 2nd.

According to their site, Little Island Comics is the "first kids comic book store in North America–maybe even the world!" Not only will Little Island feature a collection of comic books and graphic novels for children, but "a huge slate of great programming and events with kids comic and book authors from across North America and the world!"

Comic Book creators Jeff Lemire (Animal Man, Frankestein Agent of S.H.A.D.E.) and Francis Manapul (Flash) have signed at Little Island Comics' parent store, Beguiling, and the following are to attend the grand opening:

Scheduled creator appearances include:
Saturday October 1st
1:00pm – Fiona Smyth (The Never Weres)
3:00pm – LAUNCH: Claudia Dávila (Luz Sees the Light)
Sunday October 2nd
12:00pm – Clayton Hanmer (Cton’s Super A-Maze-Ing Year Of Crazy Comics!)
2:00pm – Jeremy Tankard (Boo-hoo Bird)
4:00pm – Kean Soo (Jellaby) and Tory Woollcott (Mirror Mind)
