If there was any question whether or not there would be a Doctor Who Season 8, that question is now answered as showrunner Steven Moffat has confirmed it will return for another season.
There have been various questions surrounding the fate of Doctor Who - and even Matt Smith - but at least for now, we know one part of the equation is returning.
At the BAFTA British Television Awards, Moffat stated without a doubt that Doctor Who is coming back.
"This is a thing that just seems to have slipped by... so can I say it very firmly - series eight is absolutely, definitely confirmed," Moffat said, reports Digital Spy.
"It is real and it's happening - it's [taking up] most of my time at the moment.," he continued. "I get people telling me [that series eight is] not really happening. It really, definitely, honestly is!"
New companion Jenna-Louise Coleman is also said to be confirmed in the report for Doctor Who Season 8, but no mention is made of Matt Smith.
Perhaps we'll find out Smith's fate in the Doctor Who 50th Anniversary that is set to air in November.
