Hmmm...various sites across the net seem to be reporting that the Doctor Strange movie script, first mentioned back in August of 2011, has been finalized.
They are referencing the website Fansshare.com, which has an article posted that says the script has been completed; however, I think Fansshare is just referencing the original August 2011 article found at Twitchfilm.
While Twitchfilm's article did state the script was indeed completed by Oppenheimer and Donnelly, it was far from finalized, as the article states:
Twitch has learned that Oppenheimer and Donnelly have now turned in their script and Marvel is pushing forward with the property. Marvel has drafted a short list of directors to approach on the title and is forwarding the current script to each to try and sign someone up to 'oversee continued development'.
You can read that 'continued development' comment a couple ways. Either Marvel is basically happy with the draft that they have now but want to give the eventual director a chance to make their mark on it before considering things locked down or they are looking for a director who can also re-tool the script from the ground up.
A quick check of the Fansshare front page reveals similar stories, in that they are "old" news, which is reposted, and with no author or source listed.
Furthermore, it has come out that a consultant has been hired to work on the science behind the Doctor Strange movie, which could suggest that the script is not completed as well.
I'll certainly make a correction if the news, indeed does turn out to be true, but for now I have to dismiss it.
