Doctor Strange Holds On To #1 Spot At Box Office

Marvel's Doctor Strange keeps going strong at the box office as it's learned the film starring Benedict Cumberbatch has retained the #1 spot for the second week in a row.

Doctor Strange will net around $40 million, which puts in in first place this weekend ahead of Trolls and Arrival.

To date, Doctor Strange has a U.S. gross of around $125 million, with a foreign gross of $241 million, giving Doctor Strange an estimated worldwide box office gross of around $366 million.

The $40 million weekend gross for Doctor Strange would also put it ahead of Thor 2's second weekend of $36 million and Ant-Man's 25 million.

"Doctor Strange" is directed by Scott Derrickson starring Benedict Cumberbatch, Rachel McAdams, Tilda Swinton, Benedict Wong, Chiwetel Ejiofor and Mads Mikkelsen.

Marvel’s Doctor Strange follows the story of the talented neurosurgeon Doctor Stephen Strange who, after a tragic car accident, must put ego aside and learn the secrets of a hidden world of mysticism and alternate dimensions. Based in New York City’s Greenwich Village, Doctor Strange must act as an intermediary between the real world and what lies beyond, utilising a vast array of metaphysical abilities and artifacts to protect the Marvel cinematic universe.
