[[wysiwyg_imageupload:5488:]]Yesterday saw the rumor surface that Disney was planning on doing stand alone Star Wars movies with it said the first would be a Yoda movie.
It was even mentioned that Jabba The Hutt and Boba Fett could be featured in their own movies as well.
Now we get official word straight from Disney CEO Bob Iger who confirms that Disney is, indeed, planning on doing Star Wars stand alone movies with Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi writer Larry Kasdan involved, as well as Simon Kinberg, with both consulting on J.J. Abrams' Episode VII.
Speaking with CNBC, Bob Iger offered, "There's been some speculation about stand alone films that are in development that I can confirm to you today, that in fact we are working on a few stand alone films. Larry Kasdan and Simon Kinberg are both working on films derived from great Star Wars characters that are not part of the overall saga, so we still plan to make Star Wars VII, VIII and IX roughly over a six year period of time starting in 2015, but there are going to be a few other films released in that period of time, too."
[[wysiwyg_imageupload:5489:]]The mention that the characters used for the stand alone films not being a part of the overall saga fits in with any of the characters above that were first rumored. Disney could obviously give us a Yoda origin movie or any number of stories from his 900 years of being in existence.
