As CBN reported on earlier, looks like the marriage between Superman/Clark Kent and Lois Lane will be no more, come the DC Relaunch of September 2011.
Dan DiDio, co-publisher of DC Comics, all but says that the marriage is getting nixed, as he tells NBC's PopCornBiz when questioned about the marriage:
“Let’s just say it's being reexamined,” says Didio, “because it's something that I think is something that is so valuable to the character's story that you really want to explore all facets of it. Not just as it exists currently.”
Didio continues, commenting on a new direction and also about new writer Grant Morrison taking on Action Comics #1.
“I think what you're going to see is a lot of big changes for Superman,” said Didio. “We really went back to the core of the character. And more importantly, we got somebody in Grant Morrison, who's really taking the character and reinventing him so you feel a real contemporary tone, a really contemporary time, but still staying true to the core. I think it's so important for us to make sure Superman stays as relevant today as he did when he first was created back in the '30s.”
While DiDio didn't state the words, "Superman and Lois will not be married," I think it's a fair bet that is what is happening.
Long time Supes fans, does this bother you that Superman and Lois are getting the "One More Day" treatment? Actually, sounds more like things are just going to be wiped clean without further explanation.
I'll be honest, I'm open to it.
Thanks to Bleeding Cool for the info (both times).
